Lots to unpack in the below article around the Nursing Home staffing rule. CMS has issued updated guidance that surveyors will use to weigh nursing homes’ compliance with expanded facility assessment requirements included in the minimum staffing rule. Also, for the first time, providers are explicitly directed to consider behavioral health needs of patients, as well physical needs, cognitive limitations and chronic conditions in addition to updated new criteria.

According to the latest article by Peter Wehrwein, managing editor of Managed Healthcare Executive, the discussion about value-based care in specialty pharmacy has long existed, but there remains a gap between talking about it and putting it into practice. At the 2024 Asembia specialty pharmacy meeting in Las Vegas, executives from Optum and Takeda Pharmaceuticals, particularly focusing on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), shared insights on how they are making value-based healthcare a reality. Olivia Banyon, MPH, from Optum Life Sciences (Canada) Inc highlighted the importance of operationalizing the concept, emphasizing the need for adaptable partners in value-based care, especially in dealing with real-world challenges faced by patients and providers. The discussion also addressed the significance of timely data communication and the entire patient journey in implementing value-based care initiatives. Takeda, known for its focus on IBD treatments like Entyvio, emphasized its cultural values aligning with a long-term view consistent with value-based care. Sean McCabe highlighted Takeda's commitment to patient-centric values and its expertise in IBD, emphasizing the importance of partnering with organizations willing to take action beyond data analysis. The discussion outlined a four-step process Optum is utilizing to implement value-based care, starting with patient population analysis and concluding with program refinement based on outcome metrics. This is how an unchecked Insurer with power directly impacts a health system, it's patients, it's hospital and it's ability to survive. Now this is not just a PBM issue. But the same parent company that creates this issue on the PBM front does so also on the insurance front. Does the FTC not see vertical integration as a problem? Ask St Joseph Hospital their opinion. United Healthgroup...with no cyberinsurance and lax security allowed the largest Healthcare breech...HIPAA violations in the thousands...yet...no penalties, a SUGGESTION to notify those affected by Congress, no action to DATE by the FTC. I think our government has failed every citizen in this respect

Wanted to make sure everyone has a copy of a resource that Optimal340B created for tracking #340B manufacturer restrictions, current through June 7th 2024. Now that there are 36 #GreedyPharma restricting in some way, it can be difficult to manage all of the requirements and differences.
