Analyst

Simcoe Capital Management, a NYC based value-oriented hedge fund with ~$900mm AUM and a lean team is looking to bring on an analyst (preferably 2 years IB/PE experience). The fund is industry agnostic and invests in undervalued public equities with high free cash flows and shareholder friendly capital allocation strategies. We employ a heavy fundamental research focus with a concentrated portfolio (~10 positions) and typically take 2-3 new positions per year. While not an “activist”, we have successfully obtained board representation at target companies on a number of occasions. 

Primary responsibilities will include: conducting primary research on new and existing investments, participating in weekly internal research meetings, calls with public company IR teams, running screens and other ongoing portfolio management activities.

Looking for a motivated self-starter / go-getter who can operate independently and add value in a lean team environment. Note that adding value in this position is broadly defined as making PMs smarter and more informed about current and potential new investments. New idea generation is not a responsibility here.
