Through our Hydroponic Classrooms, we provide hands-on learning experiences that foster scientific inquiry and environmental stewardship. Title: Associate Director of Communications

Position Overview:


We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Director of Communications to lead our organization's external communications strategies and social media presence. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of nonprofit communications, adept at storytelling, and passionate about leveraging digital platforms to advance social impact.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement integrated communication, branding, and marketing strategies to enhance organizational visibility and support fundraising goals.
  • Manage and grow our social media presence across platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.), ensuring consistent brand messaging and engagement.
  • Create compelling content (text, graphics, videos) that effectively communicates our mission, impact stories, and campaigns.
  • Lead brand management efforts, ensuring brand integrity and consistency in all communications and marketing materials.
  • Implement segmented donor communications strategies to personalize messaging and foster stronger donor relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align communications strategies with fundraising, advocacy, and programmatic objectives.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with media contacts, influencers, and community partners to amplify our reach and impact.
  • Monitor and analyze social media and web analytics to measure effectiveness and inform strategic decisions. Update website as needed.
  • Oversee the design and production of marketing collateral, ensuring high quality and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in communications, social media, branding, and marketing.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Proven experience (6+ years) in communications, social media management, or digital marketing, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong understanding of branding principles and experience in developing and managing organizational brands.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience managing and growing social media platforms and using social media management tools.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in graphic design, video editing, and/or web design is advantageous.


Compensation:

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $65,000- 80,000 USD, depending on experience and qualifications.
