Audio Engineer
Pay Details
The starting hourly rate range for this position is $33.30 to $41.62 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will take internal value, peer equity, job-related factors, and other organizational considerations into account.
The Audio Engineer is responsible for providing exceptional audio experience for all Honda Center events, including Anaheim Ducks games, concerts, and all events or meetings as needed. The Audio Engineer serves as a primary mix board operator for the majority of events. This role works closely with the AV team to manage the operation, maintenance, inventory, and repairs of all arena sound systems, interior and exterior, including arena intercom systems. This role will set, operate, and strike audio equipment for internal and external events.

Responsibilities
- Work closely with event vendors and TV broadcast trucks to ensure all audio and comm needs are met
- Work with internal Production and Building Operations departments on repairs and maintenance of audio infrastructure
- Work closely with supervisor to manage the scheduling of A1 and A2 techs for all events
- Assist with managing and overseeing house intercom systems
- Investigate, analyze, and resolve operational problems, complaints, and emergency repairs in a timely and efficient manner
- Assist with arena and site RF coordination
- Assist all internal departments, vendors, and clients as needed
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
- Minimum of 4 years professional experience relating to entertainment audio systems operations in a multipurpose sports arena or similar sports and entertainment environment
- Technical expertise in areas of entertainment sound systems
- Knowledge of Yamaha CL5 Digital mixing console or equivalent
- Knowledge of Dante/MADI and Q-SYS
- Knowledge of current trends and technology
- Strong foundational knowledge of audio best practices (i.e., speaker placement, microphones, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Complete understanding of signal flow and audio path capabilities
- Riedel Coms efficiency is beneficial
- Understanding of emergency and HOH (hard of hearing) announcement systems helpful
- Positive attitude in a fast-paced, live, and demanding environment
- Problem-solving and communication skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication
- Good physical condition and health, including sufficient strength and stamina for heavy, awkward, and repeated lifting
- Capable of performing manual labor for extended periods; able to stand, sit, bend, work with arms raised, and walk on concrete and uneven surfaces while repeatedly lifting up to 50 lbs. throughout shift
- Comfortable working through extreme temperature changes from basketball/ice arena to outdoors in inclement weather, including exposure to bright lights, loud noise, and dust
- A desire to learn new technologies and skills
- Selective hearing (ability to listen to audio mix and take directions/cues simultaneously)
- Able to multitask proficiently
- Able to take directions and work as a team in a fast-paced environment
- Able to install audio interfaces and route audio efficiently
- Able to work non-traditional hours, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, split shifts, late nights, or overnight shifts
- Able to climb portable and fixed ladders, occasionally working at heights above 10 ft.
