About The Position

The Benefits Analyst is responsible for assisting with the analysis, design, implementation and administration of benefit plans, including but not limited to healthcare, life insurance, qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, and other programs available to co-workers, retirees and beneficiaries. The Benefits Analyst may also lead small projects or assist with/lead portions of a larger project by working closely with the project lead.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a key resource and/or project coordinator in the execution of benefits strategy. Examples include the vendor selection/request for proposal process, benefit plan design review and change implementation.
  • Develop, document and share the process for the administration of benefit plans. Many processes require collaboration with 3rd party benefit administrators to develop processes flow for data sharing and the participant experience.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and file storage of company records, including participant communication, benefit plan history, participant-specific issue summary, and process tools.
  • Leverage multiple systems and contacts to research and resolve benefit issues. Recommend appropriate action plans or recommendations to resolve the issue.
  • Prepare data associated with the employee benefit plans. Provide plan interpretations/recommendations based on the data.
  • Assist with managing compliance requirements for applicable regulations and laws governing benefit programs.
  • Act as key resource and/or project coordination related to maintaining Summary Plan Descriptions and other plan documentation.
  • Review and reconcile benefit plan invoices to ensure appropriateness and compliance with general accounting practices.
  • Compile information for budget projections.
  • Coordinate and/or support employee communication efforts to create the desired experience for plan participants, in multiple formats (print, video, live presentations, etc.).
  • Maintain relationships with the Ameren benefit service providers and hold them accountable to high quality service delivery.
  • Serve as a key Benefit resource on cross-functional teams, special projects or other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required, preferably in accounting, finance, data analytics or other related field.
  • 3 or more years of related (e.g. benefits or other program design and administration, financial analysis, or auditing) experience required. Specific benefit-related experience required.
  • Project leadership experience preferred.
  • Additional certifications such as CPA, SPHR or PHR, CEBS preferred.


In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • High attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft office suite/Office 365.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, reporting, and vendor file set up.
  • Ability to make progress on multiple projects simultaneously, flexibility to shift priorities as needed, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels. Explains information to others in straightforward situations.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Knowledgeable of the federal legislation impacting employee benefits preferred. Basic understanding of Human Resources policies and practices preferred.


Additional Information:

The Benefits Analyst works a hybrid work schedule flexing time between home and office.
