A Senior Calibration Technician is the highest-level technician position within Transcat. These technicians will have the ability to calibrate equipment in at least 6 disciplines – or a competency level of 4-5 (expert) in at least two disciplines.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Perform their own calibration work with little to no supervision
Must be able to explain calibration issues and processes to customers when needed
Coordinate and manage daily workloads without direction from manager
Able to conduct calibration work at customer onsites with little to no supervision
Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques and be able to design budgets.
Clear comprehension of uncertainties
Maintain calibration standards.
Must be able to perform these functions within a laboratory or customer onsite setting
Must be able to gather and process data review when necessary
Must be able to travel up to 50% of designated work schedule
Primary Objectives
Train and develop fellow technicians in a management role
Coordinate work schedule for the lab
Develop and implement process improvements
Provide detail analysis of calibration processes and uncertainties
Develop and produce budgets
Develop and produce data reviews
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be fully experienced in at least two disciplines or advanced understanding of multiple disciplines
Extensive statistical background preferred
Familiarity with complex tools and equipment
Must be able to work with and understand new equipment
Advanced proficiency with office computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Advanced organizational and time management skills
Elite interpersonal skills when interact with customers
Position will include team lead and managerial responsibilities
Candidates with experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics highly desired
Education and Experience
Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PMEL (Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory) or TMDE (Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment) training + military experience in the calibration field plus 2+ years civilian experience preferred.
Senior calibration technicians will be required pass the ASQ CCT.
