Overview

To ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, and to promote ethics within the hospital. To provide ongoing monitoring and auditing functions for UF Health Jacksonville to include review of regulatory, billing, coding and documentation accuracy. Provides an overview of compliance program activities and requirements via ongoing education and training. Follows investigation protocols and responds to reported, suspected, or confirmed non-compliance. Participates in and attends compliance meetings that foster open lines of communication within the organization. Assists in the development and monitoring of special compliance projects with Compliance Manager and members of hospital departments. Provides compliance guidance.

Qualifications

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Education

Master�s Degree or Juris Doctorate. Bachelor�s Degree in a related field. Clinical degrees: MD, PhD, HIM, RN.

Necessary Skills

  • Strong role model in terms of integrity, ethics, professionalism, objectivity, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred knowledge of governmental regulations.
  • Preferred coding and billing skills.
  • Well-developed skills in problem identification, research, analysis, resolution. Must have strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Must be organized, timely, efficient, versatile, able to work independently, able to prioritize, and detail oriented.
  • Effective in team environments.
  • Preferred knowledge of audit standards and practice and understanding of internal control principles.
  • Ability to develop and/or redesign policies and procedures, operational processes, and disseminate new material.
  • Skilled in use of Microsoft systems, and other databases. Preferred experience with electronic health records.

Required Licensure/Certifications

Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) required within one (1) year of hire or transfer into the position.

Required Experience

1-2 years Compliance, privacy, audit, health information management, or legal experience (combined is acceptable).

Preferred Experience

5 or more years in compliance, legal, auditing, or related field, preferably related to healthcare, finance, or government. Preferred knowledge of healthcare and/or state and federal statutes and regulations governing hospitals and or the health care industry.

Preferred Licensure/Certifications

Any of the following healthcare related certifications: CHC, CPC / CPC-H, CCS, CIPP, CPMA, CPA, RHIA or RHIT, LLM, LHRM. Additional preferred education/degrees: JD, CPA, MBA, MHA, MSM.
