Location: Richmond, VA
Position Type: Remote
Contract Length: 5 months

Position Overview:
The Data Analyst will assist with communicable disease data reporting and analysis. The Analytics and Visualization Specialist will be responsible for data analysis and development of data visualization projects for various communicable diseases, primarily for COVID-19.

Duties:
  • Leverages appropriate analytic tools (SQL, Tableau Prep, Tableau Desktop, R, GCP, others)to integrate, clean, and transform public health and healthcare data.
  • Builds analyses and visualizations, dashboards using appropriate software (Tableau Desktop, R/Python, GCP, others) for a variety of purposes and audiences. Purposes may include public reporting, performance evaluation, decision analytics, data quality analysis, and/or scientific publication. Audiences may include the public, healthcare providers, community action groups, other government agencies, specific disease programs, and/or leadership.
  • Maintains, republishes, and enhances data products according to established cadences(e.g., daily, weekly, annually).
  • Works collaboratively with business stakeholders and subject-matter experts to define and refine requirements.
  • Documents detailed description of data cleaning steps, sources, filters, assumptions, and purposes.
  • Maintains Documentation related to data visualization processes, tools, and best practices while continuing to enhance existing processes and procedures.
  • Proactively identifies and communicates data quality issues and addresses issues arising from data processing.
  • Conducts other duties as requested/assigned.
  • Communication to stakeholders both internal and external via email, PPT presentations as well as internal presentations
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’sDegree or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Experienceworking collaboratively with diverse groups and projects with defined timelines
  • 2 years of Data Analysis experience
  • 1 year of experience with Tableau
  • 2 years of SQL experience
  • 2 years of experience with Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel
Preferred Skills:
  • Flexibility to work on multiple projects/issues simultaneously
  • Knowledge of relational databases
  • 1 year of experience with R/Python
  • 1 year of experience with ArcGIS/ Geospatial data
  • 1 year of experience with Wordpress
  • 1 year of familiarity with Health/public health data
