Position Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Director of Construction for our utility-scale PV solar projects. The Director of Construction will lead and oversee all construction activities from project inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires a strong leader with a proven track record in large-scale solar project management, construction, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Execution: Direct the planning and execution of utility-scale PV solar projects from inception to completion. Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality and safety standards.
  • Team Leadership and Management: Oversee and provide leadership to construction teams, subcontractors, and vendors. Recruit, hire, and train construction teams to ensure adequate staffing and skill levels. Foster a culture of safety, quality, and accountability within the construction teams. Effectively manage resources to optimize project efficiency and productivity.
  • Stakeholder Management: Throughout the project lifecycle, act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders. Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure project success and satisfaction.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Implement quality assurance processes to ensure that construction activities meet or exceed industry standards and project requirements. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and permits.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions and delays. Proactively address issues as they arise, making data-driven decisions to keep projects on track.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Construction Management or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in utility solar project management and / or site management.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing utility-scale PV solar projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong understanding of solar construction processes, including site preparation, installation, and commissioning.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Strong desire to obtain PMP certification or equivalent.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
