Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Marketing to lead our marketing team. This role is the most senior position within the marketing department and will report directly to the Chief Revenue Officer. The Director of Marketing will be responsible for owning the market-facing properties and brand messaging of the company to ensure that a highly differentiated and compelling brand positioning is well established and agile. This role aims to rapidly grow awareness of the company and its services while streamlining the capture of new revenue by marketing value propositions that directly address the urgent and significant pain points of our target client companies and decision makers. It’s vital to note that, given the current stage of our company, this role is expected to be “hands on” and actively engaged in the ideation, creation, and execution of marketing initiatives being actively and personally involved in all key aspects of the marketing strategy and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market-Facing Messaging: Own and evolve the company's messaging and brand voice. Create compelling, creative, and consistent content across all marketing channels, including the website, social media, marketing materials, and presentations. Ensure alignment of messaging to drive revenue growth.
  • Brand Positioning: Develop and maintain a highly differentiated and compelling brand positioning that stands out in the market and resonates with target clients.
  • Agile Marketing: Implement agile marketing strategies to quickly adapt to market changes and opportunities, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of industry trends.
  • Demand Generation: Drive demand generation campaigns across various channels, focusing on value propositions that meet the urgent and expensive pain points of target clients and decision makers.
  • Leadership with Bias for Action: Lead by example, driving a culture of high performance, urgency, and results within the marketing team. Be a proactive problem solver and a catalyst for continuous improvement.
  • Ideal Customer Persona (ICP) Management: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our Ideal Customer Personas (ICPs). Continuously analyze market trends and changes in ICP needs and goals to refine and optimize marketing strategies.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing marketing team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Content Creation: Oversee the creation of high-quality content, including blog posts, whitepapers, case studies, podcast episodes, videos, and presentations that showcase our expertise and thought leadership in the Flutter ecosystem.
  • Performance Tracking: Establish KPIs and metrics to measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives and campaigns. Use data-driven insights to refine and optimize strategies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the BD and client services teams to ensure marketing efforts are aligned with overall business objectives and client needs.
  • Market Research: Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape, and use this information to inform marketing strategies.
  • Budget Management: Manage the marketing budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve the best possible ROI.
  • PR and Communications: Develop and manage public relations efforts to enhance Very Good Ventures' visibility in the industry and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets and influencers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in marketing, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role. Deep experience in marketing consultancies, especially with a focus on technology services, is preferred.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies that drive business growth.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, content marketing, social media, and demand generation.
  • Experience in the technology or software development industry, particularly within the mobile and web application space.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and results-oriented with a bias for action.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Passion for technology and innovation, with a deep understanding of the Flutter ecosystem being a plus.
