Director of Racquets and Recreation Sports

SUMMARY: The perfect candidate should have a deep respect for all court sports and demonstrate a high level of expertise in both tennis and pickleball, with a player rating of 4.0 or above. They should possess excellent technique and the ability to enhance the skills of players across all levels. The primary focus will involve improving pickleball, tennis, and bocce programs through expansion and refinement. Responsibilities include managing program growth, coordinating leagues, clinics, and events, offering instruction, and delivering top-notch member service for all racquet and recreational sports. Additionally, the role involves supervising court upkeep and tennis professionals, as well as managing pricing and procurement of racquet merchandise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervising daily operations of tennis, bocce, and pickleball, including overseeing tennis instructors and court maintenance staff.
  • Ensuring that all club members and guests receive courteous, prompt, and professional service for their tennis, bocce, and pickleball needs.
  • Developing lesson plans and conducting instructional programs for pickleball, as well as assisting in the development of tennis and bocce activities.
  • Providing fee-based and complimentary lessons and clinics focusing on skill development, technique, and strategy.
  • Organizing and overseeing all tournaments, leagues, and exhibitions.
  • Marketing and promoting all recreational activities and club facilities.
  • Managing the recreation office, handling sales, and services related to racquet equipment and accessories.
  • Enforcing club policies and procedures regarding court usage.
  • Coordinating and assisting with minor equipment repairs and stringing rackets.
  • Inspecting and maintaining tennis, bocce, and pickleball areas daily.
  • Writing and editing racquets and recreation-related news for the club's newsletter.
  • Updating bulletin boards and flyers with the latest information on tennis, bocce, and pickleball.
  • Developing a comprehensive annual calendar of activities for tennis, bocce, and pickleball.
  • Selecting, training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating all recreation team members.
  • Establishing an inventory control system and submitting monthly reports.
  • Handling billing and invoicing for the accounting department.
  • Creating and managing the recreation department budget, taking corrective actions as needed to meet budget goals.
  • Attending various meetings as required.
  • Assisting with food and beverage service coordination for tennis, bocce, and pickleball events.
  • Maintaining accurate records of lessons, clinics, and charges, and providing monthly reports.
  • Representing the club at approved state or national pickleball events and tournaments.
  • Procuring trophies for special tennis, bocce, and pickleball events.
  • Organizing and promoting league play.
  • Leading continuous improvement efforts in racquets and recreation operations.
  • Processing and approving employee timecards biweekly.

Job Type: Full-time

Base Pay: $65,000 - $70,000 per year

Potential lesson income: Over $15,000 per year on top of base pay.
