The Role

Help support the professionals who bring lifesaving medications and medical devices to market! RAPS (the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society) is seeking an Editorial Production Coordinator to support the publication of books and content to meet the professional development needs of those in the healthcare regulatory field.

 

We are looking for a team member with project - and author - management skills, an inquisitive mindset, and a desire for professional growth. This role requires robust multitasking abilities, keen attention to detail, and the desire to work on a variety of projects simultaneously. This position is best suited for someone who wants to better understand the healthcare system and the products that treat patients and improve health.

 

What you will do with us:

  • Traffic and track manuscripts (chapters & books) through the production process, including: Submission
  • Technical edit
  • Sections and/or lead editor review
  • Substantive edit by staff editor
  • Place in InCopy or traffic to a graphic designer
  • Author review
  • Chapter finalization
  • Maintain production calendar through clear communication and scrupulous attention to deadlines.
  • Coordinate manuscripts during the peer-review process and maintain version control.
  • Liaison with freelance contributors to traffic their work.
  • Correspond with volunteer authors.
  • Oversee book contracts and author agreements.
  • Provide operational support such as information gathering, report generation, and
  • monitoring of customer and competitor trends.
  • Help identify and recruit subject matter experts to contribute manuscripts for RAPS books.
  • Serve as staff liaison to customer service.
  • Provide copyediting/checking support as needed.
  • Other duties relevant to this role as assigned.

 

What you will bring to succeed:

  •  Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in publishing and project management
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Multitasker; able to meet or exceed deadlines on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of print and electronic publication processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Excel and SharePoint) and Smartsheet (or similar project management tools)
  • Facility in Adobe InCopy/InDesign is a plus
