Electrical Engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement power distribution systems, including 480V electrical distribution, switchgear, transformers, and motor control centers, to support manufacturing operations.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of electrical equipment, including breakers, fuses, and relays, to ensure compliance with safety standards and minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues related to power distribution systems, diagnose root causes, and implement corrective actions to resolve problems promptly.
• Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to develop and execute preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems and equipment, with a focus on 480V systems.
• Provide technical expertise and support for capital projects involving power distribution upgrades, installations, and modifications.
• Optimize energy usage and recommend efficiency improvements for 480V systems to reduce costs and environmental impact.
• Participate in risk assessments and develop safety protocols for electrical work involving power distribution systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering, and apply relevant knowledge to enhance manufacturing processes.
• Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians on electrical systems and procedures.
• Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to procure equipment, services, and technical support for power distribution projects as needed.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Master's degree is a plus.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, NFPA), particularly as they relate to power distribution and 480V systems.
• Hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI interfaces, and industrial control systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
