Location: North Chicago, IL

Hire Type: Contract-to-Hire, Hybrid work schedule

Target Pay Range: $55.00 - $58.00/hour (W2, with full employee benefits during initial contract period)

Job Summary:

The Senior Electrical Engineer reviews and guides the design of electrical power systems within a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with company standards, international codes, and best practices. This role involves updating standards, staying current with regulatory guidance, and providing technical direction on global capital projects. Responsibilities include equipment selection, factory and site acceptance tests, power distribution troubleshooting, and presenting education topics. The role also supports various environments such as campus, commercial, manufacturing, and laboratory settings.


Job Duties:

Review the design of electrical power system infrastructure, equipment, and backup power and provide guidance to comply with the company Standards and Specifications, applicable international code compliance, and best practices. Generate and/or update standards for Electrical Systems for the Global Engineering Assurance Team.

Stay current with the latest regulatory guidance and industry best practices for electrical power systems, including, but not limited to, skidded equipment, electrical infrastructure, backup power systems, and lighting systems.

Provide technical direction on global capital projects through all phases of project execution from conceptual engineering to detailed engineering to installation and commissioning, including but not limited to detailed system description narratives, one-line diagrams, Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies.

Provide technical direction to equipment suppliers on equipment selection based on project requirements.

Leading factory acceptance tests and/or site acceptance tests for equipment.

Develop and present continuing education topics internally.

Troubleshoot power distribution systems and support commissioning activities.

Evaluate and Present electric utility infrastructure options.

Must be able to work within a regulated pharmaceutical environment.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience

Demonstrated competency in Facility Power Distribution and Infrastructure, with 5+ years of related power engineering.

Prior experience working for an A&E firm is preferred.

Prior experience working in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment is helpful.

Experience with Power Infrastructure design and installation projects where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing factors.
