The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) is seeking a part-time itinerant, English Language Development Teacher (ELD) for the Tri County area. The goal of the ELD program is to facilitate the acquisition of English language skills of students whose native or first language is not English. ELD teachers screen, instruct and assess eligible English learners. This is part-time position working 18-29.5 hours per week. Required Qualifications:
PA Level 1 or Level II Teaching Certificate
PA ESL Program Specialist K-12 Certification
Prior experience working with ESL/ELD student population (preferred)
Essential Functions:
Provide assistance supporting the fundamental concepts and practices of ESL/ELD instruction
Select and design teaching resources for English learners
Provide instructional adaptations/modifications to assist English learners
Conduct effective assessments to identify levels of language proficiency acquisition and content learning
Monitor English learner's content learning
Participate in individualized education plan preparation for English learners who are participating in special education assistance/services
Provide school staff with resources/professional activities to promote understanding and sensitivity toward all cultures
Provide appropriate information and services to English learner's family
Provide assistance to academic content teachers as they instruct English learners in the required content knowledge
