The Foundation Executive Director is directly accountable for the fiscal management and operational performance of The Foundation for St Luke’s Hospital and achievement of the intent of the MOU between St Luke’s Hospital and the Foundation. This position will provide leadership at a management level in support of St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation, fund development activities, and programs as assigned to shape the development strategy and to identify and solicit new foundation, corporate and institutional giving prospects. Successful professional fund development and focus on donor development and retention are mandatory. Proven creative, innovative, compelling, and persuasive in verbal and written communications; have excellent human relations skills and sensitivities, able to make decisions and solve problems.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities include but not limited to:
Bachelor's degree required preferably in business, healthcare, humanities, or social services.
Minimum of 3 years of closely related experience required, preferably in the healthcare field.
Ability to develop and manage an annual plan for donor and media relations.
Ability to advance fund development and projects on a simultaneous basis, multi-tasker.
Extensive publication and public relations experience required.
Working knowledge of HIPAA Privacy regulations to ensure all Foundation solicitations are conducted in compliance.
Working knowledge of finance and accounting principles to remain cognizant of all financial information and data of the Foundation.
Excellent customer service and human relations skills; ability to prioritize; excellent oral and written communication, including proof-reading, spelling and grammar.
Capable of writing persuasive grant proposals ready for submission and tracking grants once awarded.
Provides support to SLH executive leadership as required.
Minimum Requirements
Maintain productive relationships with members of the Foundation Board of Trustees, along with St. Luke’s Hospital leadership team, Board, Medical Staff, teammates, and the community.
Engages in community activities and civic organizations to further the mission of the Foundation.
Embraces opportunities to partner with organizations and key constituents to further the goals and objectives of the organization.
Serves as an ambassador for good public relations of the Foundation and has ability to work well with the Hospital’s public relations team.
Participates in operationalizing Foundation programs as directed including, but not limited to, teammate giving campaign, capital gifts, planned giving, direct mail, special events, estate planning, Women’s Ambassador Group, Grateful Patient, and other interest building programs.
Collaborates with the healthcare system to plan and implement fundraising that supports the objectives of the system. May work both internally and externally to partner on activities and efforts that support the goals of the Foundation and St. Luke’s Hospital.
Plans and participates in hospital or community events on behalf of the Foundation as directed.
Communicates regularly to donors via a variety of means to include newsletters, emails, annual reports, etc.
Perform other appropriate duties as required.
