General Summary

The Export Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing export sales and related marketing activities. This includes generating export sales and developing international business. This role includes managing distributors in foreign markets and developing strategies and tactics to increase sales, market penetration, and presence in export markets. Other key functions include maintaining consistent export pricing across various markets and actively monitoring order processing and shipping. The Export Sales Manager must also maintain high-frequency and prompt daily correspondence with export customers.


Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Implement strategic plans and tactical market approaches to expand export sales.
  • Identify new business opportunities, establish and maintains relationship with export customers.
  • Negotiate sales contracts and maintains disciplined and consistent export pricing.
  • Manage and coordinate shipping and logistics for export orders, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Stay up-to-date with international trade regulations and export-import food regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and present product power point presentations to export customers and explains all positive attributes of product lines and competitive advantages.
  • Works closely with internal teams such as marketing, sales support and production planning to ensure effective processing of orders and timely shipping.
  • Monitor market trends and competitors to adjust strategies and promotions accordingly.
  • Actively monitoring profit margins for individual export markets.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly export sales reports.
  • Prepares annual division operating budget.
  • Participate in major trade shows when required.
  • Review the accuracy of L/Cs and other payment options and coordinate release of export orders by Credit Department.
  • Prepares special export documents, certificates and statements to facilitate exportation and importation.
  • Maintains prompt and extensive daily communication with all export markets and distributors to ensure continuous communication and resolution of export-import issues.


Minimum Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, International Relations or related field.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum 5 years in export confectionery/food sales and marketing.
  • Proficiency in English, with proficiency in Spanish, German and/or Chinese desirable
  • Experience in working for major multinational confectionery/food companies strongly preferred
  • Excellent understanding of international confectionery markets, competitors and business landscape.
  • Experience in handling and resolving multitudes of export-import related issues in foreign markets.
  • Good general understanding of the world economy and international trade and high ability to combine entrepreneurial business philosophy with professional and disciplined execution.
  • High proficiency with MS Office products, especially Excel and Power Point.
  • Certification or professional designations in sales or language skills desirable.


Unique Conditions:

Occasional international travel, sometimes to exceed 1 week at a time.
