The Finance Manager is responsible for the execution and oversight of the financial and reporting functions of our multi-channel company. This includes a variety of transactional financial activities, certain tax compliance activities and accurate and timely reporting of financial information. The position participates in accounts payable, oversees inventory accounting/accuracy and supervises accounts receivable processes. Ultimately, the position's focus is on fostering continuous improvement, managing daily financial transactions, generating monthly financial reports, and nurturing a culture of partnership between finance and whole company operations. This role requires the successful candidate to develop a good understanding of our manufacturing process flows, accuracy of inventory and proper identification of COGS used in the manufacturing process. This will be a cross-functional and highly collaborative position that will require coordination with the other functional department heads and managing their respective budgets.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

General Accounting Responsibilities

  • Accounting experience within NetSuite is going to be paramount for this position as you will be one of only two Subject Matter Experts within NetSuite.
  • Be a strategic leader and design and drive process improvements, implement scalable solutions and financial systems, as well as participate in developing and maintaining strong internal controls, ensuring quality controls over all transactions and reporting
  • Prepare, review, and post monthly journal entry batches as assigned
  • Manage the monthly accounting closing process and identify and implement efficiencies necessary to improve the closing cycle
  • Manage monthly financial report creation, cashflow analysis and facilitates fund transfers across accounts
  • Perform Budget & Forecast variance analysis to support budgetary control and financial statement accuracy and completeness
  • Executes capital project tracking and reporting and supports corporate fixed asset accounting.
  • Maintain Depreciation/Amortization schedules and liaise with external auditors
  • Monthly Bank accounts reconciliations
  • Prepare reports and schedules for yearly taxes
  • Assist Department Managers with monthly Expense Budgets and variances
  • Prepare ad hoc analytical reports as assigned
  • Provide primary support for team members in absences

Accounts Payable Responsibilities

  • Review, enter and approve all inbound payable invoices
  • Research invoice errors and inaccuracies work alongside internal staff to resolve with vendors
  • Monitor transactions related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, G/L and Capital Assets

Payroll Support

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual payroll reports as needed
  • Allocate and apply payroll expenses to appropriate departments
  • Prepare and submit 401k plan match calculations
  • Primary backup for payroll processing

Taxes, Insurance and Licenses

  • Prepare and file monthly tax returns, including sales tax, use tax, and other state-specific taxes as required.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors as needed to ensure timely and accurate compliance of tax returns and year end reviewed financial statements.
  • Works with Insurance Representatives (Business, Health, SAIF, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of tax and licensing requirements in the states where we operate.
  • Establish and document processes for obtaining and maintaining agriculture licenses in new states, ensuring compliance with regulations.

Supervision

  • This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities to start, but looking for the right person that can grow in this position and elevate to Director of Finance.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field or 7 years’ experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles, preferably in the manufacturing or agriculture industry.
  • Proven ability to prioritize workflow and the ability to adapt well to changing priorities and emergent situations without a loss of effectiveness.
  • Highly developed organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and remain flexible and accessible for communication, consultation, and feedback.
  • A customer service-oriented approach to assisting others.
  • Ability to proactively identify projects and areas of need while being able to diagnose operational problems and execute effective courses of action.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to a wide variety of users with various levels of understanding.
  • Discretion, tact, and appropriate judgment when handling sensitive and or confidential materials.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
  • CPA is a PLUS.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite preferred.
  • The job may require working evenings and weekends to complete.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and access to an insured automobile or the ability to arrive and depart from work and work-related functions at expected times.
