Graphic Designer


Job Description BAE Systems seeks a smart, creative energetic, and experienced designer to develop, design and execute concepts for a range of internal and external projects to support our missions and business objectives. As a leading producer of electronics for government and private sector initiatives, BAE Systems requires intelligent solutions to complex problems in all areas, including marketing and corporate communications.

The designer works with the art manager, design team and communications staff to ensure that designs are appropriate and compelling for the intended audience and purpose, and are consistent with organizational and client branding, goals, and priorities. Activities include the development of corporate and project-specific communications materials, including print, motion-based graphics, social media and web marketing, advertising, and leadership messaging. The designer works with a range of company business areas, supporting print, motion, video and social messaging along with print duties. Motion graphic experience and animation understanding are required.

Candidates interested in this role must have excellent digital illustration skills, a great eye for design elements and principles, with advanced use of typography, strong technical skills and attention to detail. Must have a good understanding of how to build print, motion and web/digital files properly. Must be detail-oriented and able to prioritize heavy workloads based on deliverables and timing. Designers at all levels are expected to be full participants in the creative process from concept to final execution.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Use the full Adobe Creative Suite, create compelling designs for print and web-based materials.
  • Excel at visual storytelling and creative conceptualization, both in image creation and layout.
  • Coordinate with Communications team to design and format print materials and translate those materials to various formats, including web and social media.
  • Design compelling motion graphics to demonstrate product platforms for advertising and media.
  • Create multimedia content to be used as part of larger video or web projects.
  • Coordinate with Communications team to design and format marketing materials, including print materials, digital interactives and motion graphics, booth displays and tradeshow collateral to best represent BAE Systems.
  • Adhere to corporate standards and brand guidelines.
  • Reports to art manager

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience



Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills QUALIFICATIONS


  • BFA in graphic design or B.A. in graphic communications
  • 5-7 years’+ professional experience
  • Have a portfolio of original work accessible via internet
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in print and motion design, as well as experience with web-based graphics
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite, in particular Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and After Effects as well as familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with developing multimedia
  • Animation experience a plus
  • 3D experience a plus
  • Photography experience a plus
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with strong attention to detail, with a ability to adapt design styles, visual tones, etc. to multiple design treatments, each with a unique voice, look, and feel
  • Collaborates consistently and easily with other creative roles (designers, developers, and video)
  • Self-motivated and adherent to deadlines
  • Ability to conceptualize and problem solve


Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $78760 - $133870

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
