HR Generalist

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc., is a premier Civil Design Engineering and Environmental Consulting company across Ohio & Michigan with a talented staff of more than 500 professionals. Due to our continued growth, we now have an opening for an experienced Human Resource Generalist!

This role requires a self-motivated, organized, team player who is detail oriented, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, and has demonstrated professional conduct. This role also requires the ability to be discreet in dealing with sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality in all areas. The ability to travel to other MSG offices (throughout Ohio and Michigan) is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead MSG's benefit program, including initial enrollment, changes, claim review, and open enrollment process.
  • Champion of MSG's Wellness Program including reviewing program annually, promoting the program, and maintaining documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Import employee payroll data into ADP system.
  • Researching salary information and giving recommendations to stay competitive.
  • Provide internal feedback on how to improve employee retention.
  • Complete and update Client forms regarding employee demographics.
  • New Hire touch points focusing on job satisfaction.
  • Support HR Team in various additional tasks as needed.


Skills, Knowledge And Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in HR, preferably in a Generalist role.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, are a bonus but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
  • Proficiency in ADP is a plus, but not required.
