Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain knowledge of the organization and adhere to all organizational standards and needs
Negotiate, write, and execute agreements and contracts on behalf of the company
Offer counsel on a variety of legal issues
Advise executives and directors within the company
Work alongside other departments within the company
Advise on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different deals
Research and anticipate unique legal issues that could impact the company
Review advertising/marketing and departmental policy materials to ensure compliance with legal requirements
Provide training to the company on legal topics
Receive and respond subpoenas, and facilitate discovery when needed
Aid and support to the Risk Management function by reviewing insurance binders, maintaining insurance certificates and files, and communicating with brokers, underwriters, and external stakeholders to ensure coverage is adequate for company resources and services
Aid and support to compliance, privacy, and incident response teams
Aid and support to the Human Resources and benefit administration functions
Act as liaison between to attorneys, including Outside Counsel where appropriate, insurance companies, subject matter experts, and individuals
Review vendor, customer, and partner contracts for insurance requirements and transference of risk
Develop and maintain legal forms and templates for general use
Support maintenance of business licensing and regulatory compliance
Required Education & Experience:
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
Admission to State Bar of Texas
Eligibility and License to practice law in the State of Texas, maintained through completion of all continuing education requirements
Working Conditions:
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer, and to attend meetings at various sites
Mobility to climb up and down stairs all day, as needed
Necessary Equipment Operation:
Office equipment, including telephone, fax machine, scanner, computer, printer
Special Skills:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Highly organized with the ability to resolve complex issues
Strong negotiation skills
Strong analytical skills with the ability to find and analyze data
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of ERP and procurement systems
