Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Manager is responsible for driving internship and career-related programming. This includes the administration of established programming such as career roundtables, and piloting new programming such as skill-based workshops. The Manager works closely with other public service directors at Harvard College and Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) to ensure collaborative, comprehensive, substantive, and formative career-focused programming for Harvard College undergraduates interested in pursuing summer internships and post-graduation opportunities in politics and public service.
The successful candidate will have prior professional work experience working with students, preferably undergraduate student populations, and have a strong desire to encourage their professional pursuits and involvement in both public service and the political process. In addition, the Institute offers conferences for new members of Congress and newly elected mayors , and, after each Presidential election, brings together campaign managers and strategists to analyze the race.
The IOP provides avenues for practical experience and encourages students to examine critically and think creatively about politics and public issues.

Salary Range: $69,404 - $113,558

- Experience in and/or working knowledge of politics, prior experience working with internship programs or career services
- Ability to steward professional relationships, partnerships, and networks
- Creative drive to ideate, develop and implement new programming and pipelines
- Ability and interest in working in a fast-paced campus environment and manage multiple competing priorities and timelines
- Ability to deftly change gears and contexts
- Skill in developing data collection and tracking systems
- Strong customer service orientation

Position Description
The Manager will:
- Develop, execute, and assess internship and career-related programs, including the schedule of events, outreach, tracking, collection, and evaluation of feedback
- Manage the application, selection, and orientation processes for the ICS programs (1,000+ annually)
- Work with the Executive Director to identity potential speaker and partner opportunities, manage event logistics for weekly events during the academic year
- Work with the Finance Director to manage finances and maintain funding records for internship opportunities and summer stipend program
- Collaborate with counterparts in other Harvard centers and relevant University offices on joint funding of student financial awards and represent the Institute’s interests at meetings of these groups
- Serve as subject matter expert and principal point of contact and liaison for program constituents, principal source of information on established program policies, advise students on the on-campus public service recruiting process
- Participate in committees around the development of career services across the University
- Maintain all program records (e.g., financial, administrative, applications, student)
- Work with the Executive Director to devise and implement strategies for targeting student audiences, promote programming to the Harvard undergraduate community
- Maintain database of employer partnership contacts and profiles, research and suggest new employer partnership pipeline opportunities
- Work in collaboration with IOP colleagues on Institute-wide projects and other special programs as needed
Basic Qualifications
