Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors seeks Investigative Journalists and Reporters candidates for its in-house Investigative Unit in the New York office. The Unit provides the firm with comprehensive research, analysis and investigative support. Our investigators are trained in fact-finding techniques as well as human relations. Typically retained to tell our client’s story in all forums, our investigators are integral to the Firm’s core competence. We seek professionals with backgrounds in Investigative Journalism, Media Relations and Reporting. Candidates must possess strong research and writing skills and have a passion for the fact-finding process.


Responsibilities


Conduct inquiries on individuals, firms, and organizations through gathering information from multiple sources, conducting interviews analyzing data and fact-checking findings

Conduct and analyze factual research through interview, investigation, and observation

Identify factual witnesses and key players, conduct research and draft background memoranda and timeline of events

Interview key players and fact witnesses to gather facts and develop the narrative

Assisting attorneys and consultants with trial preparation

Manage comprehensive investigations

Perform extensive library, internal and online searches


Education, Attributes, Skills & Experience


Bachelor’s Degree in English, Political Science, Journalism, or similar background

Prior experience as an Investigative Reporter, Journalist or Media Relations Expert strongly preferred

Experience in conducting research and investigations using best practice researching methods as well as proper fact-checking protocols

Outstanding people skills, well developed active listening abilities and attention to detail

Experience managing multiple priorities and cases

Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and work under pressure to meet goals

Highest level of privacy principles, personal integrity, and respect for confidentiality

Strong investigative, research and writing skills


Anticipated compensation range is 200K-250K based on experience.
