Manufacturing Plant Design Engineer

Join the dynamic team at Komline-Sanderson as we seek a Plant Layout Designer to join our organization! The designer will be the driving force behind the creation of plant process systems and coordination of sub-supplier systems.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Create plant layouts for municipal wastewater plant engineering projects using Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Design comprehensive customer equipment installation layouts, process flow diagrams, P&ID schematics, and customer documentation packages, under direction of Project Manager.
• Create equipment arrangement drawings, foundation plans, process equipment interconnects for piping, ducting, mechanical, etc.
• Work from customer specifications, architectural drawings, and civil engineering requirements to create preliminary proposal layouts supporting new project quotations. Requires knowledge of utilities requirements and production process equipment.
• Performs other duties as required by the department.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent and five or more years technical experience with fundamental skills in mechanical engineering, specifically those related to plant and process equipment layout and installation.
• Proficient in the use of computers with solid knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor. Revit and familiarity with Autodesk Vault is a plus.
• Familiar with equipment installation requirements for conveyors, pumps, compressors, heat transfer units.
• Possess a working knowledge of piping, structural steel, process equipment, pumps, conveyors, dryers, ducting and plant engineering standards.
• Must be able to coordinate drawings and data between suppliers and customer’s engineering staff. (Translate the customer’s requirement into a purchase specification for our sub-suppliers.)
• Must be detail oriented with the ability to set priorities on projects with competing deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as with the team with rigid time constraints.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
