DEFINITION: The OBGYN provides a wide range of women’s health medical services to patients under the general direction of the Director of Women’s Health, and Chief Medical Officer. Services provided are preventative, diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative, and may be provided in conjunction with the services provided by a primary care provider, health educators, social workers/behavior health providers, and nutritionists.
Example Of Duties
Provides OBGYN medical care to Council patients.
Sees patients on appointment and drop-in basis and puts forth a reasonable effort to average 2.5 to 3.0 patients per direct patient care hour.
Encourages patients to assume significant responsibility for their health care and health maintenance.
Emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, early detection, and on-going health care supervision; promotes healthy lifestyles.
Advises patient on the appropriate use of health care services and health care facilities.
Documents well in medical record of each patient: health history, the basis for diagnoses made, treatment provided, and treatment plan established.
Makes appropriate use of available referral and consultative services and of clinical and non-clinical services.
Protects patients’ right to confidentiality and participation in decisions about his/her care.
Treats patients and support staff with respect and dignity.
Complies with policies and procedures, and protocols of WOHC and WOHC Medical Department.
Participate in the design, establishment, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and timely revision of clinical health care protocol and procedures, clinical guidelines, and clinical quality assessment and improvement activities, including medical records and other audits.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited professional school; board certified.
Licensed to practice in California; experience within the last two (2) years of working as a clinician in an urban setting with a large minority population preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively, listen well, and express simple and complex ideas clearly
in written and oral format.
Ability to adapt to flexible work situations.
Ability to work well with wide range of healthcare and non-healthcare professional and nonprofessional persons and organizations.
General Requirements
Attends work regularly and on time; is readily accessible during work hours to peers; limits absences from own duty stations and limits visits and activities which distract others from their performance of duties
