Job Summary:
Complete blacksmith operations for our Livery at Grand Canyon National Park.
The Details:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: $18.00 per hour, plus $50 per-head rate
Schedule: May include weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities
Responsible for all appropriate blacksmith duties, primarily the shoeing of mules.
Achieve average of 5-6 mules shod per day, 25-30 per week.
Maintain the blacksmith shop in a clean safe and orderly fashion.
Adhere to all safety and risk management policies and procedures.
Wear all personal protective equipment required for the position.
Maintain supply levels for blacksmith shop.
Responsible for security of blacksmith shop, including fire safety.
Overnight stays at Phantom Ranch may be required from time to time. Based on the mixed-gender nature of the Trail crews and limited employee housing at the bottom of the Canyon, employees may be required to share room accommodations with team members of the opposite sex. Employees will have access to gender-specific shower and restroom facilities, but will be expected to sleep in a co-ed bunk house.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Three years minimum experience shoeing stock (manually).
Must have own tools.
