This is a fully remote, unpaid, long-term role on ámaxa's leadership team, best fit for undergraduate students or graduate students. We are entirely volunteer-run at the moment, and team members can be based anywhere in the world.
We are accepting applications on a rolling basis. Please note that we will reach out via LinkedIn in lieu of email if you are selected for an interview.
Who We Are:
Our mission is to help high school students effect change in the world by connecting them to high-impact projects with our 8 global partner nonprofits. We do this by acting as what we call a social impact concierge. First, we personally match each of our members to one of our 8 high-impact projects with global nonprofits. Then, we match them to a remote team of other ámaxa members and a coach. Together, they spend 3 months meeting remotely, planning a unique event, campaign, or other project.
We launched last year, and our students have already done some amazing work. Our teams planted trees across three countries, created a prototype for an English-teaching platform for Palestinian students, and raised the funds to sponsor 7 children’s full school tuition in Liberia. Our current teams are conducting outreach to companies to procure solar lights for grandmothers in Uganda and setting up a Mental Health First Aid program in their community.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered in the United States.
What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking a Operations Intern who will be responsible for managing organization, logistics, and communications for our student program. This long-term volunteer role is ideal for individuals passionate about social impact and keen on developing their project management, leadership, and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Own the application process for our students using Airtable: schedule applicant interviews, manage email communications to applicants, and organize applicant data.
Develop our coach recruitment strategy in order to both consistently recruit excellent coaches and prepare/train them. While we are eager for our Director of Operations to develop this strategy creatively and more in-depth, you would start by recruiting undergraduate program coaches via Linkedin, Idealist, and direct outreach to university career centers.
Conduct interviews for both high school student applicants and for undergraduate program coach applicants.
Be on top of emails. As our Director of Operations, you will be the first point of contact for student applicants who have questions or confusions about the process. It is essential that you respond to emails in a timely and professional manner at all times.
Become an expert on ámaxa. Your first priority after gaining an in-depth understanding of our program is to further develop our coach training curriculum and implementation.
Manage cohort data diligently. Using our program progress Airtable tracker, you will ensure: meetings are happening, coach reports are handed in, questions are answered, critical chains are iterated on, all feedback points are recorded, and more.
Requirements:
Demonstrated passion for social impact.
Excellent time-management and prioritization skills
Excellent writing and communication skills, specifically emails
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Bonus: Previous experience in project management or leadership roles
Bonus: Experience with Airtable or Notion
Time Commitment:
5-10 hours per week
