Ryerson has an opportunity for an Operations Manager position. As an Operations Manager you are responsible for managing operations in our metal processing and distribution center that supports the surrounding markets. Primary responsibility will be to leading and managing a team of front-line supervisors in the planning and execution of day-to-day operations ensuring a focus on a safety-first culture.

Roles And Responsibilities
Managing staffing, supply, and equipment needs based on forecasted volume
Mentoring, developing and expanding talent and performance initiatives throughout the location
Identifying and creating continuous process improvement opportunities
Driving strategic initiatives as required
Overseeing machine and building maintenance to ensure preventative maintenance programs are in place to minimize downtime
Ensuring warehouse staff are trained in health, safety, and environmental practices pertinent to their positions as required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA) and company policies
Providing direction and coaching in safe work practices; supporting safety goals

Position Requirements
College degree preferred with 3-4 years manufacturing experience, or
5-8 years warehouse operations experience, preferably in the metal processing/distributing industry and SAP experience preferred
Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving, negotiation, and leadership abilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of ISO policies, procedures and work instructions as outlined by ISO 9001:2008
Solid understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives – e.g. lean manufacturing, 5S, LEAN, 6-sigma etc.
Exposure to contract negotiations, communication with Business Agents and administration of Collective Agreements and Grievance Processes
Knowledge of statistical process control, warehousing, metal handling, equipment operation and transportation regulations and procedures
