Operations Manager assists the General Manager in handling the day-to-day operations of Xanterra’s Rocky Mountain National Park Retail and Food & Beverage operations, and the Estes Park housing facility, employee dining room, and warehouse.

The position works closely each season with the Retail Manager, F&B Manager, all property administration, and the corporate retail & supply chain groups, to ensure strong product flow and operational excellence. Provide strong guest relations, employee performance and direction, including training and supervision.

Wage: $58K to $62K

Responsibilities

Season Operations Role (Year One) Training (Current)

  • Working directly with General Manager to become proficient in the day-to-day operations during the season for Rocky Mountain National Park.
  • Shadow Retail Manager, F&B Manager, Warehouse Supervisor, and Estes Park administration.
  • Participate in orientation and training of all new hires.
  • Participate in Solar orientation, issues, service contract, and startup/shut-down processes.
  • Learn nuances of the 2017 F&B remodel including lighting, new equipment, water saving, roofing, etc.
  • Handle guest concerns with courteousness and professionalism .
  • Ensure all safety standards are maintained and enforced.
  • Have a commitment to RMNP’s environmental and risk policies.
  • Resolution of conflicts, administering disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Participate in Spring & Fall startup and shutdown process for the Trail Ridge Store.
  • Participate in Spring & Fall startup and shutdown process for Estes Park.
  • Available and on call at all times.

Shoulder Period Operations Role (Year One): Training (October through May)

  • Learn hiring system working directly with General Manager to become proficient in the staffing & operational functions for Rocky Mountain National Park.
  • Learn F&B development process.
  • Learn and participate in CEA process.
  • Learn and participate in operating budget process.
  • Learn preparation procedures regarding contractual reports due to NPS.
  • Responsible for maintaining an excellent client relationship with the National Park Service.
  • Learn all computer and cloud-based systems.
  • Participate in orientation requirements and presentation preparation.
  • Review with retail buying team product assortment, inventory & receipt scheduling.
  • Learn nuances of all departments and prepare for training of employees for 2025 season.
  • Oversee and participate in maintenance and security of the Trail Ridge Store and Estes Park properties.
  • Oversee Estes Park property in the absence or days off of General Manager.

Season Operations Role (Year Two and Beyond):

  • Work with General Manager in development of managerial staff each season.
  • Review or implement training for various positions for the RMNP property.
  • Schedule training from outside sources.
  • Participate in all training each season for returning and new managers and employees.
  • Manage receiving, transfer, storage & system input functions for Retail (Mi9) in the absence of a warehouse supervisor.
  • Oversee F&B Inventory Control, receiving, storage & accuracy from order to delivery, collaborating closely with F&B management, GM, and SCM.
  • Complete reviews of managerial staff.
  • Open communication with corporate departments in their support of the RMNP properties.
  • Continue learning nuances of TRS and Estes Park properties.
  • Assume responsibility in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Support General Manager in all aspects of day-to-day operations.

Other:

  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.
  • Maintain an attitude & philosophy consistent with the company Core Values and Standards of Behavior with internal & external guests.
  • Maintain the highest level of business integrity in dealing with vendors and delivery persons.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Seven years minimum management experience in a high-volume, high-sales operation.
  • Experience using computer systems in place, track and receive products and deliveries accurately and in compliance with established standards.
  • Associates degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Retail Merchandising or similar field. Commensurate experience may substitute for some of the educational requirements.
  • Excellent analytical skills regarding sales figures, order metrics, financial statements, and purchase contracts.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with managers, staff, vendors, suppliers, and National Park Service Concessions personnel.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Word and Excel software, plus computerized POS & Inventory Management systems, Supply Chain systems, hospitality systems.
