  • Bachelor's degree

  • Examples and at least one sample of an effective product or module delivered in the past
  • Attention to detail, good organizational skills, and ability to handle tasks of high complexity
  • Creative mind on product design and specifications
  • Experience using productivity and design applications (especially Figma or Sketch) to create narrative and graphic elements (mock-ups) for specifications
  • Strong analytical skills

Preferred

  • Experience working on product to product integrations, particularly with SIS and LMS systems
  • Experience with open educational standards, especially LTI, Resource Search, and OneRoster
  • Statistics background
  • Training and certification as a professional scrum product owner (PSPO) or as a certified scrum product owner (CSPO)
  • Experience with story mapping

Overview

  • The product is a leading standards-based assessment platform for K-12 students.
  • The Product Owner role is responsible for execution of product roadmap priorities.
  • As Product Owner, you will be responsible for product planning and execution throughout the product life cycle.
  • You will work closely with other product owners, customer-facing teams, and engineering.
  • The role requires someone with product experience in educational technology and preferably experience with product to product integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Execute on the product priorities assigned by the Lead Product Owner. Defacto product owner for integration work.
  • Work with customers, customer success, and engineering to determine product requirements, feasibility, and implementation approaches.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Product Owner and engineers to conceptualize, document, design and develop new features and enhancements.
  • For strategic accounts, manage the process of implementing committed features with the Strategic Account Manager (SAM). Develop workflows and outlines of proposals for client review to ensure clear direction. Prioritize the backlog of committed features.
  • Create medium-fidelity mockups and work with engineers and the Lead Product Owner to oversee UI design implementation, while also serving as an advocate for design in strategic product decisions.
  • Collaborate with the UX team to develop new UI patterns and screens, review HTML/CSS built by the UX team. Revise existing UI elements to improve usability.
  • Deliver product specification documents with prioritized features and corresponding justification, acceptance criteria, business rules, and "client friendly” descriptions.
  • Collaborate with other product owners in general and perform peer-review on product specification documents.
  • Meet with line-level engineers for Q&A on significant projects.
  • Assure that completed changes and features conform to the original specifications through internal user acceptance testing.
  • Work with cross-company colleagues to solicit knowledge, build tighter integration, and share lessons learned from our application and experience.
  • Create and edit release notes.
  • Create ad-hoc documentation as needed to fulfill customer needs. Review and edit help documentation authored by L&D and Support teams.
