About Our Team

The Product Specialist position is an important part of the Sales Enablement Team within the US College Sales department. Our team helps sellers sell and buyers buy. The Product Specialist works closely with internal stakeholders and external customers to ensure the best content (textbook and teaching resources) are adopted to assist students in learning course content. Our team also works closely with other US college departments: especially sales, editorial, product and Digital Learning Solutions.

  • Highly skilled at interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written to create sales content, implement sales strategies, build relationships, and drive revenue growth.
  • An outstanding and engaging presenter, highly adept at demonstrating technology and print products effectively both in-person and online, with a well-rounded multimedia portfolio.
  • A proven project/product manager that is highly organized, who pays careful attention to detail and is highly responsive to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic, with a strong analytical mindset, and keenly focused on contributing to winning business and maximizing sales potential.
  • Skilled at expanding market coverage by targeting specific audiences to increase product adoption through training and collaboration.
  • Self-motivated, highly disciplined, and a creative, solutions-focused problem solver.
  • Experienced in sales, sales enablement, and marketing, with consecutive years of goal achievement, preferably in higher education with 4+ years experience.
  • Eager to demonstrate and have your success measured by sales performance, strategic product launch, development of seller and buyer enablement materials, review copy request analysis, and completion of assigned projects.

Your New Role

Sales Enablement Strategy and Execution: Drive sales through effective direction and support, secure new business, and grow and retain existing accounts. Create and implement strategic product plans to achieve sales goals, contributing to closing high-potential, high-volume opportunities to boost market share and sales revenue. Collaborate internally to secure competitive adoptions, upskill account executives to enhance sales proficiency in assigned disciplines and develop internal and external sales assets to market and train on products to end-users.

New Business Development: Identify enterprise targets, foster strong relationships, address needs, secure business, and drive sales revenue growth. Lead to advance potential customers through the sales pipeline and assist to close deals. Create and manage a list of top accounts and develop strategies to secure new business with key targets. Collaborate to develop effective strategies, aligning sales strategy and increase new business, digital activations, and customer retention. Evaluate the pipeline and collaborate with sales managers and specialists to enhance pipeline movement, maximize market share growth, and accomplish results on a national and regional scale with coordination across functional sales teams to support seller development.

Product and Market Expertise: Continuously improve product, market, and competitor knowledge through campus visits, customer events, product development, management, and communication with authors and customers. Leverage deep understanding of our products, their markets, and competitors to strategically position our titles and optimize sales efforts for maximum impact.

Internal Partnerships: Collaborate with Go-To-Market Specialists to drive new product success through lead generation, customer engagement, relationship cultivation, and targeted market seeding activities at key accounts, building demand, and securing new business. Communicate field insights to the product and editorial teams, providing feedback on market needs, product improvement suggestions, and timing requirements for new and revised products. Participate in core product team meetings to gather market intelligence on the program performance and report on enablement activities with measurable ROI.

Customer Engagement: Travel throughout the US, up to 25% (with possible increase during peak season) to support selling throughout adoption season and develop product competence for new sales team members. Conduct effective sales conversations on key products individually and with sales staff to achieve results, while ensuring accurate, complete, and timely entry of relevant information into CRM. Collaborate with teams from various departments to plan and implement customer engagement events that will have a significant effect to strengthen relationships, generate interest in our products, and acquire new business. Proactively communicate with customers and authors to ensure a positive experience and perception of SAGE.

Compensation at Sage is influenced by several factors, including but not limited to skill set, nature and level of experience, qualifications, and other relevant considerations.
