Duties

  • You will monitor progress/status of work in fabrication shops, shipyard and aboard ship.
  • You will monitor contractor performance pertaining to schedule in all areas of construction, testing, trials and delivery.
  • You will monitor status of specific changes such as Engineering Change Proposals, Non-Engineering Change Proposals, Value Engineering Change Proposals, Requests for Deviation, Request for Waivers.
  • You will monitor contractor's quality program.
  • You will assist in the administration of safety, fire prevention, and environmental protection programs.
  • You will provide general evaluation of contractor's production facilities as they relate to ship contract work.
  • You will conduct verbal presentations regarding ship readiness for all Mission Readiness Panels for sea trials.
  • You will patriciate in builder, acceptance, and sea trials for assigned ships.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level/pay band GS-11 in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing oversight to waterfront production and project performance for ship construction.
