We are a dynamic and growing global publishing company based in Dubai/UAE. We are seeking to hire talented and motivated Production Editors to fill vacancies in ELA and multiple projects. As a Production Editor, you will work on a variety of projects remotely, including digital and print publications, and other content.


Contract Type: Independent Contractor Agreement - Freelance

Reporting Manager: Senior Production Editor.

Working Hours: (80 hours per month)

Working Dyas: Monday-Friday

Agreement Period: 1 year. might be extendable according to the available projects.

Start Date: ASAP

Hourly Rate: 35$ per hour.



Job Overview:


The Production Editor plays a crucial role in overseeing the production process of educational materials, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery. This position involves collaborating with authors, editors, designers, project coordinator/manager, content manager, head of publishing and other stakeholders to create educational content that meets the highest standards. The Production Editor maintains effective communication throughout the production cycle.


Responsibilities:


  • Production Management:


  1. Coordinate and manage the production process for assigned educational projects, ensuring adherence to established timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  2. Collaborate with authors, editors, designers, and illustrators to ensure smooth workflow and efficient production of educational materials.
  3. Track project milestones, review progress, and proactively address any potential issues or delays to ensure timely delivery.


  • Copyediting and Proofreading:


  1. Review and edit manuscripts, typescripts, and digital files to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to editorial guidelines.
  2. Conduct thorough copyediting and proofreading to correct errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.

  • Content Formatting and Layout:


  1. Collaborate with design and layout teams to ensure proper formatting, layout, and organization of educational materials.
  2. Apply appropriate styles, templates, and guidelines to maintain consistency and visual appeal throughout the content.
  3. Review and provide feedback on page layouts, illustrations, and graphics to enhance overall readability and comprehension.


  • Quality Assurance:


  1. Perform rigorous quality checks on all materials at various stages of production, including content, design, and technical aspects.
  2. Identify and resolve any inconsistencies, errors, or discrepancies to deliver error-free and high-quality educational materials.


  • Communication and Collaboration:

  1. Maintain effective communication and collaboration with authors, editors, designers, and other stakeholders to address project requirements and deliverables.
  2. Provide clear and concise feedback to authors and stakeholders to improve the quality and accuracy of educational content.
  3. Participate in project meetings, offer insights, and contribute to the overall success of the publishing team.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in production editing, copyediting, and proofreading, preferably in the educational publishing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of editorial principles, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style guides (such as Chicago Manual of Style or AP Stylebook).
  • Familiarity with educational publishing standards and best practices.
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard publishing software, such as Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, and project management tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a meticulous approach to editing and quality assurance.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
