The Safety Specialist position will be responsible for ensuring that all safety standards are met within the company.
Job Responsibilities
Maintains records and files of all surveys, inspections and incidents to assure compliance with UniTek corporate, state, and federal requirements pertaining to reporting hazardous incidents, motor vehicle accidents and personal injuries
Advises employees on how to prevent and reduce safety incidents
Conducts continuing safety education training in safe work practices to maximize safety and generate a responsible employee attitude towards safety
Perform regular and frequent on-site safety audits for both Subcontractors and in-house employees
Participates in selected OSHA and Safety Certification courses as directed by UniTek Management
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications:
Education
Associate degree in safety management or equivalent combination of education and experience in the safety related field; BS/BA Degree in Occupational Safety & Health preferred
Position Requirements
Minimum of 2 years' experience in Safety Management or a related field and 2 years if safety related experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong command of the English language is required
Technical Skills
Technical/professional knowledge and skills in Safety and/or Risk Management
Strong technical knowledge and background in OSHA regulatory standards, ---
Safety engineering and environmental protection is a plus
Proficient skills using MS Office with strong experience using Excel
Strong analytical skills to solve complex issues
Attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and quality
