Senior Civil Structural Designer

Job Description

• Under engineering guidance, prepares detailed drawings/models and bills of material for all phases of civil and structural steel designs for substation and transmission line engineering projects, requiring the application of theoretical and practical design knowledge.
• Proficient in structural design drawings and able to utilize design tools effectively as well as provide training and conduct simple checking as needed. Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities important. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to effectively teach what they know to other employees.
• Checks work assigned to lower-level CAD Technicians and Designers for technical quality, accuracy and compliance with customer, Company and discipline standards.
• Ensures project deliverables for technical quality, accuracy and compliance with Company and Client standards.
• Prepares design sketches utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge for drawing/model preparation by lower-level Designers or CAD Technicians. Reviews and resolves design interferences or issues.
• Participates in the training and mentoring of new CAD Technicians and Designers. May lead a small project or a phase of a large project performing project discipline administrative tasks including; developing and monitoring manpower and schedule requirements, establishing discipline design requirements, and maintaining design and drafting data.
