Senior Geoscientist -Offshore Mexico

The Senior Geoscience must be able to combine strong seismic interpretation and geologic skills with geophysical skills. The position requires integration of seismic and well data with engineering data to fully evaluate operated assets which includes static geomodel construction. The Senior Geoscience will also be responsible for near-field exploration prospect generation and outside deal screening. Proficiency in AVO, rock physics and QI techniques is desired.

Duties & Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary asset team to integrate geophysical, geologic and engineering data to generate prospects and evaluate well results
  • Work alongside engineers and industry partners help to optimize the Zama field development plan
  • Evaluate and recommend drilling of new and infill wells
  • Identify and generate near-field exploration and exploitation opportunities
  • Construct static geomodels alongside the reservoir engineering team in support of reservoir simulation efforts
  • Application of quantitative interpretation methods to generate advanced probabilistic risk and resource estimation
  • Solicit input from peers and SMEs and collaborate to promote consistent, technically rigorous work products
  • Provide geologic operations support from well planning through drilling operations
  • Assist corporate development and exploration team in screening outside acquisition and farm-in opportunities

Education & Experience

  • 10+ years experience at an Upstream E&P company
  • Deepwater US and Mexico GOM experience is required
  • International offshore experience is desired
  • Proven Oil Finder
  • Master’s Degree in Geology/Geophysics

Qualifications & Skills

  • Must have firm understanding of geophysical concepts
  • Strong understanding of deepwater GOM depositional systems
  • Geological operations experience desired
  • Experience building static reservoir models required
  • Able to organize and prioritize a diverse and heavy workload for a team
  • Creates strong work relationships with vendors, contractors, and internal staff
  • Communicates effectively, both written and orally in a collaborative environment
  • Recognizes personal strengths and weaknesses and is proactive in self-development
  • Willing to work a demanding and flexible schedule
  • Proficient Spanish speaker required
  • International travel will be required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, IHS Kingdom, Rose and Associates RoseRA and Petrel is required
  • Experience with Spotfire and RokDoc is desired.

Physical Requirements

  • Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
