What does a Sr. Machine Learning Engineering do at Clearcover?

Clearcover is looking for an experienced software or data engineer with machine learning experience. At Clearcover, a Sr. Machine Learning Engineer will focus on developing our platform, tools, processes, and frameworks that make it easier to develop, productionize, monitor, and update services that use machine learning and generative AI.

Our Sr. Machine Learning Engineers own both technical and business problems. They are expected to own the process of defining the problem and implementing the solution. A successful Sr. Machine Learning Engineer will have excellent technical skills, in addition to good judgment and communication skills necessary to collaborate across the company with data scientists, other engineers, and non-technical teams. A Sr. MLE at Clearcover is equipped to make a full business case for a new ML product, build it, and launch it on release day.

Current and upcoming projects that will have a major impact on the entire company include optimizing our customer segmentation ML models, fraud prevention, and claims processing automation, as well as our generative AI tools for claims adjusters and a customer-facing claim intake product. The team works with many technologies, including Docker and GitHub CI/CD, graph and vector databases, Prefect, and over a dozen AWS offerings. Together, the team takes a “production-first” attitude to deliver high-value models and tools that are taking Clearcover’s customer experience, acquisition, and operations to the next level.

What will you do?

• Work across teams with stakeholders to understand, define, and plan for solutions to their business problems.
• Deploy and manage our feature store, machine learning models, inference services, and generative AI to production!
• Architect cloud infrastructure and workflows to support an array of demands that require scalable and efficient combinations of LLMs, Python, AWS, and (no-)SQL databases.
• Own independent research initiatives to solve real-world business problems.
• Continue supporting and scaling our models while ensuring highly available and durable services - our ML platform is deeply incorporated into the Clearcover ecosystem!
  
  
  

What do you need?

• 3+ years of experience as a Machine Learning, Data, or MLOps Engineer, or as a data-centric Software Engineer. We’re looking for smart, driven colleagues.
• 3+ years of all-around software development experience in Python, with comfortability in testing and shipping your code to other stakeholders.
• Proficiency in SQL for reporting, analysis, and data extraction.
• Significant experience with popular Python data science and machine learning libraries, including scikit-learn, pandas, numpy and related libraries.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or a similar cloud vendor (e.g. GCP, Azure).
• Ability to communicate and discuss complex topics with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  
  
  

Nice to haves?

• Experience with facets of our ML platform:
• Event streaming frameworks such as Apache Kafka.
• Building RESTful microservices with FastAPI, Flask, or similar framework.
• Provisioning cloud infrastructure with Terraform, Cloudformation, or other IaC framework.
• Experience developing and maintaining ML models through the model lifecycle.
• Exposure to containerization and running applications on Kubernetes or similar container orchestration platform.
• Demonstrable cloud computing experience or cloud certifications.
