Job Description
AZZ has an exciting 1st shift opportunity for a Shipping & Receiving Lead at our Blacksburg facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager you will support and supervise the processes and procedures in the warehouse to maximize quality, safety, productivity, and profitability.
Duties And Responsibilities
Leads and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming / outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment.
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to define shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet shipping receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
Oversees incoming outgoing shipping activities to make sure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Determines space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks lays out position of shipment.
Inspects loading operations to make sure compliance with shipping specifications.
Inspects material handling equipment for defects notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
Maintains vehicle maintenance report.
Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to work areas.
Compiles records of unfilled orders.
Posts weight shipping charges.
Prepares bills of lading.
Performs other duties as described by management.
May assist workers in shipping receiving activities.
Create / Maintain Large Customer Spreadsheets and customer special documentation requests, such as photos and videos.
Issue Galvanizing Certifications.
Backup for phone coverage in admin office.
File and audit of job packets to ensure compliance with audit documentation guidelines.
Qualifications
At least 1 year of supervisory experience is preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills needed.
Must have high attention to detail.
Basic knowledge and skill with Word, Excel, and iPad operating system.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
