Sr. Compensation/Business Analyst

The Compensation/Business Analyst function will be a member of the Operations Team within the MBRNDA People Team. This position will perform a variety of compensation and business analyst activities. This includes but is not limited to analyzing salary benchmark data, administration of HCM (Workday), compensation data analysis, using source data tables, analysis of job levels correlating to pay, administration of annual compensation programs, compensation-related compliance activities such as pay equity analysis and re-classification analyses. This position will work to ensure Mercedes Benz Research & Development compensation and organizational programs remain competitive and fair.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in compensation refreshes, conduct annual geo differential audits, review compa-ratios and Mercer market salary surveys.
  • Determine and make compensation recommendations to management and People Business Partners pertaining to hiring, promotions and other wage adjustments.
  • Execution and oversight of day-to-day employee transactions completed in HCM.
  • Create reports using system backend source data tables (i.e. PeopleSoft, Workday, etc.).
  • Maintain and frequently update the MBRDNA Compensation Program Guidelines.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide high level summary details.
  • Act as a primary PeopleSoft/Workday analyst serving as the lead for all system enhancement projects including future system integrations.
  • Assist in maintaining all incentive programs, Long-Term Incentive (LTI), Short-Term Incentive (STI), Annual Bonus, Merit, Spot Bonus, Referral, and Sign-On bonuses.
  • Ensure adherence to MBRDNA Compensation policies, processes and maintain compliance with Mercedes-Benz policies and guidelines.
  • Overall accountability for data integrity to include quality, accuracy, and usability of employee data and related interfaces, by implementing adequate processes, audits, and backup systems.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain end user procedures and process flows.
  • Other duties, functions and projects as requested.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of Compensation experience.
  • Advanced skill level using Excel, proficient in MS Office, TEAMs, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven success with report writing (such as SQL and PS Query), auditing and general data management.
  • Strong familiarity with HCM systems (PeopleSoft and Workday).
  • Strong data analysis skills to interpret complex datasets.
  • Combination of fundamental knowledge in Compensation concepts and Human Resources practices.
  • Proactive in resolving potential issues and ability to operate successfully with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Conducting research, analyzing information, data and presenting findings in a concise understandable format.
  • Self-starter, problem solving and strong attention to detail. Ability to manage high volume of information with accuracy.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior Compensation/Human Resources experience.
  • Use of system backend source data tables for data reporting.
  • Human Capital Management experience (PeopleSoft/Workday).
  • High level skill in Excel - pivot tables, v/h lookups, macros.
