Senior Supervisor, Maintenance in Albuquerque, NM

Curia provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the management of the site maintenance activities related to the operation of the buildings, and general areas, executed by a staff of skilled technicians, and external contractors. The Facilities Manager will provide expertise in maintaining the building operations with the highest quality of service, adherence to all safety requirements, and with a sense of urgency. The Facilities Manager will support the cost-effective use of plant assets through establishment and use of appropriate maintenance techniques and programs. The programs are to be predictive and proactive in nature to strive for maximum equipment availability. The Facilities Manager will also work closely with the engineering staff, providing support in equipment design and selection, and providing resources for project scoping and execution.

Supervisory responsibilities

This position does have supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Job Duties

  • Drive adherence to all safety standards and programs to ensure a safe work environment is achieved for direct staff, all site personnel, and external contractors.
  • Model all Curia and site safety standards through daily decisions, directives, and actions.
  • Support the EHS organization, managing the Boilers, and Elevators inspections, as required per the local, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain the Fire Detection, and Suppression systems.
  • Adhere to all quality standards and GMP requirements.
  • Manage the site’s pest control program to include proactive management of seasonal issues.
  • Supervisor landscaping and grounds maintenance to include mowing, snow removal, sprinkler maintenance, etc.
  • Manage staff of direct reports utilizing various tools such as: daily discussion, routine 1:1 conversations, development of individual performance goals, setting vision for the department in line with site goals and objectives.
  • Ensure training and development plan is in place to meet daily business objectives and to enhance the skillset of department staff in line with business needs.
  • Establish and manage the plant facilities equipment reliability and preventative maintenance program, analyzing failures for root cause and developing means to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Work closely with production supervisors and engineers to investigate Facility problems and determine necessary repairs or improvements.
  • Partner with technical staff to troubleshoot and resolve critical issues.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate all facility maintenance-related and continuous improvement activities for semi-annual production shutdown events.
  • Develop clear communication plans regarding non-routine work impacting site personnel.
  • Develop and maintain operating and start-up procedures for all facility support systems.
  • Maintain asset list for facility-related systems supporting long-term asset replacement strategy.
  • Conduct and document regular facilities inspections.
  • Plan and manage facility central services such as reception, security, cleaning, catering, waste disposal and parking. This also includes managing all House Keeping vendor/activities.
  • Respond to facility and equipment alarms and system failures.


Education, experience, certification and licensures

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree Facilities Management, Facilities Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 5-8 years maintenance experience, including 5 years’ supervisory experience preferably in the pharmaceutical industry


Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Familiarity with OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with commercial HVAC equipment tools and controls.
  • Familiarity with Facility Management Systems (FMS) and preventative maintenance programs and schedules.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Incumbent may be required to obtain/qualify for and maintain the clearance to wear a respirator at a “class B” level or above following OSHA mandated guidelines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
