The Shipping and Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for managing tasks, setting schedules, anticipating setbacks, and meeting departmental targets.
KeyResponsibilities
Supervision of shipping and warehouse staff through communicating expectations, training, and monitoring employee performance and attendance to assure that quality and company standards are met
Reads shipping notices, invoices, orders, and other documents to determine priorities and shipping methods
Communicates shipping schedules and monitors all outgoing and incoming freights
Inspects loading/unloading operations to assure compliance
Directs the movement of goods from shipping points to storage and/or work areas and coordinates product movement with other departments as required
Receives and resolves product returns, identifies product defects, and determines if returned merchandise should be repackaged or destroyed
Maintains inventory and safe storage of all raw materials and finished goods located in their area of responsibility
Carries out regular inventory reconciliation of supplied materials
Knows, understands, communicates, and facilitates a safe work culture, ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental and company policies
Provides shipping reports by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing performance records and data
Initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between factory departments
Assumes responsibility for the operation of any department to which assigned because of the temporary absence of the Department or Warehouse/Shipping Supervisor
Maintain complete and accurate knowledge of contractual obligations with the Union and conducts manufacturing operations with proper regard for Union relations and their impact on business
Resolve personnel problems by investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action
Performs other related duties as required
Qualifications
Required
Forklift experience required
Intermediate level of experience with productivity tools, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Independently motivated, with the ability to take on tasks and duties without immediate direction
Ability to maintain daily workflow and deal with complex issues
Ability to read and completely understand the current Collective Bargaining Agreements
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Collaborative mindset and work style
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a business-related field and/or five to eight years of experience in a tobacco manufacturing environment
High school diploma or equivalent qualification
Preferred
NetSuite, DSI and/or UKG experience
Knowledge of FDA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements
