Scope & Contacts

Incumbent has extensive contact with the company's lending and loan support staff. The incumbent must have the ability to express his or herself in a clear and concise manner. The incumbent has direct supervision over a team of Analysts who prepare written credit quality evaluations of complex commercial and consumer loans and commitments. These evaluations include assessments of the borrower's financial condition, the borrower's performance, collateral analysis, credit administration by the loan officer, the sufficiency of documentation, profitability, and compliance with Bank policy and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Perform comprehensive risk analyses of complex loans and commitments.
  • Provide in depth review of internal Loan Review staff’s work product and sign-off for Audit Control purposes.
  • Prepare reports containing the results of risk analysis on individual credits and portfolios for various audiences including lenders, regional management and board members, executive management, corporate board members, auditors, and examiners.
  • Present and lead discussions regarding findings, conclusions, and recommendations from credit and portfolio risk analysis to various audiences including lenders, regional management and board members, executive management, corporate board members, auditors, and examiners.
  • Consult Chief Lending Officer, executive management, and board members on emerging or elevated risks associated with lending policy, procedures, practices, economy, or other factors.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage the loan review team.
  • Provide annual performance evaluations on subordinates and recommend steps for performance improvement, when applicable.
  • Work in tandem with the Credit Analyst Manager to recruit, hire, train, and assist in the career development of staff in the Analyst Program.
  • Engage with auditors and examiners and fulfill audit and regulatory requests regarding audit control documentation and loan review findings.
  • Assist in Credit Administration functions directed by the Chief Lending Officer.
  • Actively participate in the Customer Service First sales and service culture, support the values of the organization, and follow established company policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance, or a combination of suitable education and experience.
  • Five years of experience in any of the following areas required: credit analysis, risk management, loan review, accounting principles, banking laws/regulations, or loan operations.
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to multitask.
  • Ability to logically organize and interpret information from multiple sources.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial statements.
  • Working knowledge of commercial law particularly as it relates to secured transactions and knowledge of commercial bank operations.
  • Demonstrate ability and willingness to determine a course of action and carry it out.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities, dependability and thoroughness in meeting responsibilities, and willingness to seek out and accept responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with PCs and PC software, specifically Microsoft Excel and Word and a strong ability to adapt to changes in technology.
