Position: Technical Assistant- Head Fly Rail/Grip Operations

Department: Parks, Recreation & Arts - LPAC

Salary: Range: $21.82-$25.26/hour

Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible

Job Summary

The Technical Assistant – Head Fly/Grip Operations reports directly to the LPAC Technical Director.

The position operates under the supervision of the LPAC Stage Manager and is responsible for one or more of the following: running fly rail and preparing scenic rigging for in-house, touring and rental artists as required, general support and setups for outdoor events as needed, and fly rail/shop equipment maintenance.

The position is highly visible and requires extensive contact with amateur and professional performing arts organizations, as well as the general public.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • May supervise Stage Assistants
Example Of Duties & Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Familiarity with single-purchase counterweight fly systems
  • Basic rigging safety protocols
  • Basic rigging knots and pin rail operations
  • Personnel lift operation skills
  • Assisting in setting audio stage plots, audio snake cabling, distro power feeds
  • Assisting in lighting pre-hang and focus calls

Education And Experience
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance.
  • Currently enrolled in a college, university, or trade school majoring in Theatre Arts, Film, Television, or a related field, is desirable.
