Technical Product Manager - Policy & Rating

As a Technical Product Manager in the core insurance systems domain, you will be responsible for driving the development and enhancement of our rating and policy administration technologies. Your primary objective will be to ensure the capabilities we develop meet the evolving needs of the business and situate us at the forefront of the insurance industry. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Owners, Engineering, Design, Underwriting, and Operations, to define product requirements, create a delivery roadmap, develop detailed feature models, and deliver innovative solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess understanding of the insurance industry and demonstrated expertise in product management and software development methodologies. This individual will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of our policy management products as well as staying abreast of evolving technology and compliance needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Roadmap Development: Collaborate closely with business and technology stakeholders to define and prioritize the product roadmap, articulating a clear vision and strategy for the core insurance systems, specifically focused on rating and policy administration functionalities.
  • Balance scope and delivery plans, while integrating customer/user feedback, business objectives, and market research to identify emerging trends, competitive threats, and opportunities for innovation.
  • Feature Prioritization: Define developer-ready requirements and prioritize product enhancements based on ROI, customer impact, and technical feasibility.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including customers, sales teams, and subject matter experts, to gather and prioritize product requirements and feature enhancements. Engage directly with users to understand their needs, pain points, and gather feedback on existing features and workflows.
  • Backlog Grooming: Maintain a well-groomed product backlog, ensuring clarity, completeness, and readiness for development sprints.
  • Technical Alignment: Ensure that implemented solutions are compliant with the organization’s established technical standards and take advantage of already established technical competencies.
  • Quality Assurance: Uphold rigorous quality standards throughout the product development lifecycle, overseeing testing procedures and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, reliable software solutions.
  • Product Training and Support: Develop comprehensive training materials and resources to enable internal teams to effectively utilize our products, fostering adoption and maximizing value as well as supporting internal customer support questions.
  • User Experience (UX) Design: Advocate for user-centric design principles, ensuring our products deliver intuitive user experiences optimized for engagement and ease of use.
  • Performance Tracking: Define key metrics and KPIs to measure product performance, conducting regular analysis to assess effectiveness and inform decision-making.
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert on our product offerings, providing guidance and support to internal teams and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and compliance requirements that may impact the rating and policy administration functionalities.

This might describe you

  • Demonstrated experience in product management, preferably in the SaaS industry or other technical domains. Insurance experience a plus.
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to communicate effectively with engineering teams and understand complex technical concepts.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and drive decisions, especially in ambiguous situations.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex software products: product strategy, defining roadmaps, and leading product development from concept to launch, with a strong emphasis on user experience and market fit.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment, with a solid understanding of software development methodologies and processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and a results-oriented mindset.

Over and above

  • Experience with Azure DevOps and Agile software delivery practices desirable.

Other Things To Note

This position can be worked as remote position within the United States.

Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
