Job Purpose


Working as VP of IT at Big Ass Fans is dynamic. As we continue on our Digital Transformation path, you will be a key leader who has responsibility for not just developing, planning, and implementing on IT and cybersecurity strategies but you will also be responsible for business applications and systems integration. You will be overseeing a ~20-person team of Ops, Development and Project personnel who develop and maintain all the software within our system ecosystem as well as managing system integrator resources. This role covers both off the shelf and internally developed applications. This role reports to the CEO.


The ideal candidate will not only be an experienced IT leader but also a champion of change, innovation, and root cause problem resolution. The candidate should be able to go from strategy (business and architecture) to development (integrations/coding) to execution (testing). Candidate should be able to both set strategy and get his/her hands dirty. This role will also be responsible for working with the business to drive systemic process improvements through the ecosystem. This entails leading process improvement sessions with the business to draw out requirements definition for future state.


You will ensure consistent delivery on commitments with a keen focus on quality and efficiency enhancements. This role requires a hands-on leader with a demonstrated track record of managing in a dynamic environment of both maintenance and delivery, well-versed in business and IT. Someone who has experience defining and implementing internal processes and mentoring team members managers through every phase of project delivery.


Responsibilities

  • Be a leader and driver of change; desire to solve problems for business and our customers.
  • Proven track record of successful development and delivery of enterprise platforms - software, security, data analytics, web-based information management, and the development of actionable strategic insights.
  • Experience managing day-to-day operations maintenance teams.
  • Experience building and leading high performing teams.
  • Experience leading the modernization of legacy technologies to leverage distributed platforms (Cloud, API frameworks, etc.) while concurrently driving business benefits/value.
  • Experience managing and leading change for business application systems (SalesForce Service, Sales and Manufacturing Clouds, Epicor ERP, etc., Wordpress, Magento).
  • Successful track record of coordinating and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong, in-depth understanding of current technology trends.
  • Collaborate with partners and internal stake holders to understand the objectives and customer benefits of new product features, to deliver on time and on budget.
  • Drive innovation and change by bringing together business partners to ideate on new ways of working.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with technology peers and key business stakeholders through continuous engagement. Be a thought leader and partner.
  • Ensure cohesive architectural and infrastructure to decrease technical debt while meeting the mission and goals of the client.
  • Construction of comprehensive IT budgets.
  • Experience with both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies.
  • Start-up spirit and being comfortable with delivering fast and great results in a rapidly evolving and unstructured environment.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in leading teams in multiple IT disciplines
  • 6+ years of software development experience in the cloud
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related field experience or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to work in waterfall and agile environments
  • Experience with serverless technologies and development
  • Experience with AWS Architecture
  • Experience with some of the following javascript, typescript, python, PHP, Mulesoft Integrations, and API’s. .Net Framework. Proficiency in Node/JavaScript, React, Lambda
  • Proven client-facing, partnership, and presentation skills
  • Experience crafting/developing business requirements
  • Self-motivated and passionate about your work
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills
  • Solid software delivery foundation with an understanding of product design of complex systems, including cloud-native software development (AWS) and processes
  • Strong project management skills, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to influence others
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead and inspire business and IT teams through strategic thinking and innovation
  • Ability to coordinate resources outside of direct management to support strategies and initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information to a business audience
  • Proven track record of success leading teams in a dynamic, rapidly changing entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced and complex environment
