LearningMate is looking for Video Producer based out of Lanham, Maryland.

The main purpose of this position is the technical video production work involved in the creation of engaging and skills-imparting video content with a focus on quality, efficiency and innovation. This is achieved by recording learning content videos to the highest standard for client partners through the application of camera, lighting, and audio recording skills. The production of videos includes technical equipment setup, interaction with faculty, and filming for remote, in-studio and on location recordings.

This role requires an “all-round”, broad technical video production skill set that can be applied to studio and non-studio settings. Work will include instances of filming as part of a small crew with specific technical responsibilities allocated to each team member, and instances of serving as a “one-person crew” who must perform all technical responsibilities independently for a small technical set up.

This is achieved by executing briefs, managing and producing all assigned videos to the highest standard as well as supporting on high priority projects. The production of videos includes elements of the planning, directing delivery, directing shot setup and independent shot set up and filming of in person and virtual videos, in-studio or on-location. Adherence to timelines and deadlines of assigned projects is critical.


Key Role and Responsibilities:

Performing technical course tasks to best ability at industry-leading quality and within

timelines. This includes: (40%)

  • Filming virtually/remotely (independently responsible for remote filming set up with
  • speaker)
  • Filming in-studio (collaborate with Sr Studio Technicians to set up before speaker arrives in
  • studio, this may include independently setting up and operating all equipment and
  • technical elements of the filming process in some cases)
  • Filming on-location (depending on complexity of filming either film independently or
  • potentially work with vendor to film on location, this may include independently setting up
  • and operating all equipment and technical elements of the filming process)
  • Collaborate with Sr Studio Technicians to plan for filming


Effectively document and share key insights and considerations from the production phase

with other teams. This includes: (30%)

  • Complete filming log sheet (or similar document) to enable media management at scale
  • Summarise and proactively share any production nuances that will impact media management and post production, including but not limited to: possible need to refilm due to poor technical quality or speaker deliver; greater than usual need for audio clean up or need to mask; failure to capture white balance and color grading references during filming; scope concerns; speaker ideas and comments for additional media (text/visuals)
  • Summarise and share updates on the progress on filming with key internal stakeholders within the agreed upon regular cadence (daily for some projects, once per intense for others)
  • Note and share trigger warnings with internal teams
  • Initiate and facilitate filming debrief meetings with internal stakeholders if there are complexities that need to be discussed and collaboratively solved before work continues


Communicating effectively and professionally with internal and external project stakeholders.

This includes: (30%)

  • Support faculty/ speakers through the filming process so that they feel welcome on set/in studio and at ease when filming.
  • Answer faculty/ speaker questions by carefully considering the impact of the answer on other 2U teams and the students. Ensure that you know and understand the partner-specific nuances (as expressed in partner playbooks) so that your answers adhere to partner-specific considerations.
  • Ensure that written communication to internal and external stakeholders is clear and addresses the informational needs of the specific group/audience you are communicating with
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create effective, holistic processes and approaches by sharing insights and feedback, and participating in the creation of training and process documentation, training sessions, and brainstorming discussions


Education and Experience:

  • Relevant experience in television/ film/ video production and workflows.
  • Specialized, demonstrable expertise in one production skill set (preferably camera work, but can be lighting or audio if camera operation skills are still strong).
  • In addition to the specialized area of expertise noted (in the point above), a strong foundational practical knowledge of all other key areas of technical video production (camera, lighting, sound)
  • A strong foundational theoretical knowledge of video post production to enable effective production note-taking and footage logging
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrable endorsement and respect from colleagues/teachers/mentors.
  • Ability to operate video, audio, and lighting equipment independently, and to operate and monitor a variety of these at the same time..
  • Track record of initiative taken in previous work/position and evidence of positive impact.
  • 5+ years work experience.
  • Preferred, though not required, a degree in a media-related course of study.


Physical Requirements

Lifting of mildly heavy camera equipment, and standing for extended periods of time during in person filming (where applicable).
