REMOTE PART-TIME WORKPLACE INVESTIGATION ASSISTANT (07-1-24 / USA)


California Labor Solutions (CLS) is a growing human resource (HR) management company located in California, USA, which provides HR and workplace investigation services to other organizations throughout California. We help organizations become more successful by supporting them in managing their workforce and the relevant employment regulations.

 

Your attitude, efficiency, and skill level will influence the projects you are assigned and your compensation at CLS. As your competency improves, so will your compensation and responsibilities. Your work schedule will be performed from your designated home office, and you must have a reliable computer, cell phone, and internet signal.


NOTE: This job post is HR and investigation experience in a workplace context (such as investigating claims of harassment or discrimination). Investigation experience in a criminal or law enforcement context is not applicable.

 

COMPENSATION:


Workplace Investigation Assistant (Part-time Position Open Now): The hourly compensation range is $40 to $60 per hour, depending on the possession of required and preferred qualifications, and relevant education/experience and performance on pre-hire skills assessments. Workload is estimated at 50 to 100 hours per month. (This is at-will employment.)


This position will last for up to 6 months. If after the 6-month trial period, you have had consistently high efficiency, competency, and performance levels, which includes being able to handle entire HR projects and investigations independently, you may become eligible for the Associate position. The Assistant position is intended to include the necessary training and support to determine if the Assistant has the requisite competency, attitude, and skill level to serve as a CLS Workplace Investigation Associate.

 

Workplace Investigation Associate (Promotional Only): The hourly compensation range is $60 to $80 per hour. The starting compensation is $60 per hour. (This is at-will employment.)


Every 6 months, you will receive a performance evaluation and compensation increase of up to 10%.


 OPERATIONS SCHEDULE FROM YOUR HOME OFFICE:

 

Core business hours (6 am - 4 pm PST or 7 am - 5 pm PDT on Monday-Friday depending on the workload and Daylight-saving time). You will work from your designated home office (quiet and without distractions). Work outside of core business hours and on weekends may be required.


 MINIMUM ATTITUDE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Workplace Investigation Assistant:

 

(1) Advanced professional speaking and writing skills are REQUIRED.

(2) Ability to “speed read” long documents (such as 50-100 page documents investigation reports) and provide advanced proofreading, editing, and analysis of the material is REQUIRED.

(3) A minimum of three years of full-time professional experience in the human resources or legal field is REQUIRED. Work experience relating to criminal or fraud investigations, recruitment, payroll, benefits, and any internships will not count towards the three-year minimum. (3 or more years of professional-level experience serving as an employee complaint workplace investigator is PREFERRED.)

(4) Any bachelor’s degree is REQUIRED. A degree in Law, Paralegal, Human Resources Management Organizational Development, Psychology with Human Resources emphasis, or Journalism is PREFERRED.

(5) Excellent communication skills, time management, emotional intelligence, efficiency and quality of work, and distraction-free working while in your designated home office space is REQUIRED.

(6) A minimum of three years of full-time professional experience interviewing witnesses and producing lengthy reports (50-100 pages avg.) such as investigation reports or functional equivalent) is PREFERRED.

(7) A minimum of three years of experience working fully remotely with a defined schedule from a home office is PREFERRED.

(8) Demonstrated marketing and business development experience is PREFERRED.

(9) Possession of a state-issued Bar License or Private Investigator's License is PREFERRED.

 DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

 

Workplace Investigation Assistant - Primary Service Objectives:

 

1.    Quickly learn the human resources and workplace investigation work that CLS performs.

2.    Perform all aspects of the workplace investigation process, which may include interviewing witnesses via video calls, preparing draft interview questions, correspondence with witnesses, drafting witness interview summaries, analysis of the evidence, and assisting the Investigator during the witness interview process. Rapidly review long documents such as investigation reports and provide advanced proofreading and editing of the material.

3.   Learn the entire CLS workplace investigation process, which will include investigation assisting and report writing. Establish the required competency to conduct CLS workplace investigations independently within your first 6 months as a CLS Remote Workplace Investigation Assistant to become eligible to be promoted to the Associate position.

4.     Conducting witness interviews – after competency is achieved in investigation report writing. 

5.     Use advanced written/verbal communication skills in English – especially advanced professional writing in English.

6.     Lead and train other team members and apply effective supervisorial skills and abilities.

7.     Assist and lead human resources-related tasks and projects, including legal research, and managing the recruiting and hiring process for CLS and/or clients.

8.     Perform business development and marketing activities, including lead generation and strategy development, outreach to potential clients (“cold calls”) and partners by phone, email, and messaging on social media platforms.

9.     Identify risks, opportunities, and problem-solving skills and solutions related to the business as a whole.

10.     Advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other platforms and technologies used at CLS.

11.  Project management skills with excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency – with continuous follow-up on any task or assignment until completion.

12.  Provide the CEO with reliable and confidential executive-level assistance.

13.  Communication with team members daily via email, phone, video calls, and WhatsApp text with blue checkmarks activated.

14.  Communicate excellent customer service with every contact with both clients and team members.

15.  Performance of other related duties/responsibilities not listed above, as assigned.
