Creating transitions
- [Instructor] When two clips are placed next to each other on the timeline, the video appears to jump from one clip to the next. This is commonly referred to as a jump cut. But we can smooth that jump out by adding a transition. Now if you're following along, I'm in the transitions project. Creating transitions in ScreenFlow is one of those features that is extremely well-executed. Simply drag a clip until it begins to overlap with another clip on the same track. ScreenFlow will then automatically apply a default transition to the overlap. Now the speed of the transition is controlled by the amount of overlap of the two clips. A longer overlap will create a slower transition whereas a shorter overlap will create a faster transition. Now to create a transition of a specific duration, drag the two clips until they snap together. Then release your mouse and then click and drag again to create the transition once more.
