In support of its Equity Action Plan, SSA partnered with Abt to examine potential bias in the Quick Disability Determinations (QDD) predictive model. QDD screens initial disability program applications to fast-track applications where a favorable disability determination is highly likely and medical evidence is readily available. Abt analyzed more than 5.5 million SSDI and SSI new applications and found differences in QDD identification rates for groups of applicants defined by race/ethnicity, sex, age, and medical condition. We also developed options SSA could consider to further investigate root causes and remedies. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eRn32FcC

🔸 Roughly 1 in 8 people today are migrants with approximately 135 million women & girls currently fleeing violence, conflict, poverty, and natural disasters. 🔸 Women and girls in particular face unique, explicit risks in migration as victims of sexual and gender-based violence, trafficking, and other forms of exploitation. 🔸 Low- and middle-income countries (LMIC), where health systems may already be under-resourced, are increasingly destinations for many. 🔸 While the COVID-19 pandemic reduced global life expectancy and was a stark reminder that migrant health needs cannot be ignored, it also served a learning ground that more is possible. 🔸 The USAID-funded Local Health System Sustainability Project (LHSS), led by Abt, led vaccine equity efforts with country partners and a special focus on migrants. 🔸 Local governments can partner with private and community organizations to address key primary and reproductive health needs for migrant populations. 🔸 Reaching migrants requires a localized, whole-of-society and often cross-country approach to health systems that can be beneficial to all. #WorldPopulationDay

The #EBSNConference inspired us with new ideas and strategies for helping adult learners in the twin transition of adapting to digital advancements and developing green skills – understanding the human impact on climate change and the environment. It highlighted the importance of lifelong learning and how we can better equip adult learners for the future. Our own Judy Alamprese shared insights from Abt’s research on innovative approaches for upskilling, reskilling, and supporting adult learners’ credential attainment and employment.
