We’re excited to announce our collaboration with ACRA - Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority to digitally transform Singapore’s business ecosystem through the issuance of verifiable, tamper-proof information products such as Business Profiles and Business Certificates along with the development of its new online verification portal, trustBar. By replacing traditional non-verifiable document mediums such as PDF files, digital verifiable information profiles simplify the verification process of business information for situations such as KYC checks for mergers and acquisitions, vendor selection, and bank loans, whilst facilitating cross-border opportunities by enhancing trust working with Singapore enterprises. Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information, Kiat How Tan, shared more about how Singapore is moving towards a skills-based economy as part of the Forward Singapore Agenda at Accredify’s Regional Education Briefing. SMS Tan emphasised the importance of investing in ourselves by re-schooling, re-skilling, and re-tooling, to stay relevant in a skills-based economy. The skills-based hiring movement under the TIP Alliance is also an initiative aimed at preparing Singapore for a skills-based future. Jan Tan, Assistant Director of Skills Development at Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP), noted that although some employers have removed qualification requirements from their job descriptions, recruiters and hiring managers continue to prioritise graduates. This suggests that current hiring practices still weigh qualifications more heavily than a combination of traditional achievements and acquired skills. Hence, she emphasised the importance for employers, training providers, industry partners, and other stakeholders to adopt a skills-based mindset in order to advance a skills-based economy. Verifiable credentials, such as those offered by Accredify, are essential to this advancement. These credentials ensure transparency and trust in the skills individuals possess by providing a reliable and clear method for validating skills and competencies.
